When you’ve grown up with wine making wonderful wines is part and parcel of who you are.
Kooks wines are hand crafted by our wonderful winemaker Brie Hughes using Australian sourced white grapes from cool climate regions of Victoria and the Yarra Valley and red grapes from premium growing regions around South Australia and the Barossa Valley.
“I grew up on a vineyard North of Melbourne. My father’s passion for grape growing and winemaking really rubbed off on me” says Brie. “My winemaking career has taken me to some of Australia’s premium wine growing regions to work for some of the most respected and recognised companies; Spy Valley Wines New Zealand, Bay of Fires in Tasmania, Hardy’s Tintara in McLaren Vale, as well as Margaret River, the Adelaide Hills and USA.”
Brie moved back to Australia from New Zealand where she was White Winemaker for Saint Clair Family Estate, Marlborough, which is New Zealand’s highest awarded White Wine producing company. She is now based back in Australia, working for Kooks as well as Rob Dolan Wines in the Yarra Valley, which has just been awarded James Halliday’s Trophy for Best New Winery.
